Raung volcano,is one of the active and unique volcano in Java island,East Java,Indonesia. Straddling the borders of three regencies,Banyuwangi,Bondowoso,Jember.It stands at an impressive height 3,332 meters (10,932 feet) above sea level.It is the second highest peak in the ijen volcano compkex and the fourth highest in East Java.

● The Massive Caldera : Unlike many cone shaped volcanoesmount raung is famous for its colossal,open caldera. The crater is about 2 Kilometers ( 1.2 miles) wide and 500 meters deep,constantly emitting steam and volcanic gasses.
● Extreme Hiking Terrain : Among Indonesian mountaineers, Mount Raung holds a legendary status as one of the most physically demanding and dangerous climbs in the country. There are two main climbing routes. The Sumber Wringin route (from Bondowoso) leads to the lower rim, while the infamous Kalibaru route (from Banyuwangi) leads to the absolute highest point, Puncak Sejati (The True Peak).
● Cultural and Mystical Significance : Like many Indonesian mountains, Mount Raung is steeped in local folklore and spiritual reverence. The surrounding communities, particularly the Osing and Javanese people, view the mountain as a sacred place. The roar of the mountain—from which it likely gets its name (Raung means “to roar” or “to wail” in Indonesian)—is often interpreted in local mythos as the voice of ancient spirits or guardians inhabiting the peaks.
